Using 2023 Basic Survey on Wage Structure data for Kanagawa, this article examines the gender wage gap by age. The gap is only ¥5,600 a month at ages 20–24, but exceeds ¥100,000 from the early 40s and reaches nearly ¥150,000 in the 50s.
Using 2023 Kanagawa data from the Basic Survey on Wage Structure, this article compares wages by age at firms with 1,000+ employees, 100–999 employees, and 10–99 employees. The large-versus-small company gap widens sharply from the late 30s and reaches more than ¥90,000 a month in the 50s.
Using 2023 data from Japan's Basic Survey on Wage Structure, this article compares scheduled monthly wages across the seven prefectures of the Kanto region. Tokyo ranks first at ¥397,000 a month, about ¥70,000 above Gunma, while Tochigi unexpectedly takes third place.
